treasure map cake

lorena and i made this cake today for lincoln’s birthday. it was a lot of fun to make. looking back, the decision to use mounds of graham cracker crumbs for the islands probably wasn’t the best plan, as it made it hard to get the frosting to stay put, but it looks cool…

Thanks so much for posting this picture I was looking to make a treasure map cake for my grandsons 5th birthday. What did you make the sand out of? The cake is great. Thanks again

  2. the sand was graham cracker crumbs. it was hard to pipe frosting onto it, because it would kind of just curl up and not stick to the cake as it got coated in the crumbs. i’ve heard brown sugar works well. 🙂
