a few things that happened in june ’24 before we left for a 3 week trip to michigan.

we only had a week of june before we departed for our michigan summer road trip. but we crammed in some things.

firstly. school ended. i already blogged about anna’s graduation. ike finished up his junior year a bit more quietly. and hazel wrapped up a great fourth grade year, which is the year they learn about nc history. after their obligatory end of year testing, but before school officially ends, they finished up working on their final projects, presentations and models of a chosen nc lighthouse. on the last day, parents were invited to walk through the classroom and repeatedly learn all about the various lighthouses of our state.
hazel chose cape hatteras, arguably the most iconic.

we were also welcome to sign our kids out with us. brilliant, i say. we said goodby to two wonderful teachers, and fourth grade was in the books!!

immediately after school, the girls were scooped up by their friends’ mom and they were all off to the beach for a girls weekend. luckies. (the kids. not the mom.)

she sent lots of pics and anna kept me in the loop mostly. basically they had a great time. and there was a good bit of sunburning without their obsessive mom dutifully slathering it on every hour.

back at home, ike and his pal camped out in the backyard. surprisingly they did not come back in during the night. impressive.

not much else to report from those early days of june. hazel was still doing taekwondo…

and i was sticking to my little diet and exercise routine. so adorable. knowing what was coming next.

and that’s the ten or so days of june that we were on vacation. (i almost forgot to post it).
