to celebrate our 22nd (plus one week) anniversary, derek and i shipped the kids off to the grandlidboms and had a little staycation in ye olde winston-salem. we made an attempt to do things in town that we have never really done. try new restaurants. etc.
our first stop was reynolda gardens. i have driven by dozens of times, on my way to and from a local fave fabric shop, but for 15 years i’ve just had it earmarked for an unknown future date and time. well, now was the time.
i took a million pictures. sorry.

after paparazzi-ing all of the flowers, we walked over to the reynolda house, which apparently is super historic and famous. we shelled out some cold hard cash for the opportunity to traipse around the grounds of the reynolds family, learning about their business endeavors in the early days of winston-salem. some scandalous stuff. and definitely some white washing.

once we had our fill of learning, it was time to eat. i have wanted to try heff’s burger club for awhile, so we gave it a go. it did not disappoint. our favorite part was the hot honey dipping sauce. and the vibes. obviously.

we refueled (caffeinated) before heading to do some thrift furniture shopping, in an effort to find something reasonably priced for our screened in back porch. we failed.

back at home, undocumented by photos, we watched a movie. i think it was dumb. i wouldn’t know because i fell asleep. but i’m told i didn’t miss much.
on saturday, we basically ate allllll daaaaaaay looonnngggg. first. a farmers market in greensboro.

then a fabric store and furniture shopping, before lunch at a greek grill. so good.

despite being completely stuffed to the rafters, we then stopped an italian market i have had my eye on for a long time. bought all the things. all.

we might have done some other stuff. i’m writing this quite a bit later, so i can’t really remember all of the events, and for sure can’t remember the order in which we did them. i do know that we finished off the evening with dinner at a thai restaurant. like i said. we ate all day long.

anyways. this will likely be our last staycation. winston salem isn’t all that interesting. 🙂
