it’s mid october as i sit to type this. i uploaded the pics awhile back. it all seems like a dream now. september was fast. and busy. a whirlwind.
anna’s field hockey career was in full swing. she has absolutely loved the experience. and it was fun for me to have a little sports mom era.

some official roster photos:

this kid was pretty stoked to be selected game captain by her coaches.

my pal jude popped up to one of the games and took pics of all the girls on her super fancy camera with her super fantastic photography skillz and sent me these great shots. there were other great shots too, but these are the three that got the “how i look with a mouthguard” stamp of approval.

let’s see here. i’m still gymfluencing. haha. or going to the gym and taking stupid pics in the mirror.

which also means, i’m still attempting to keep my nutrition game on point. i’m not sure why i’m obsessed with documenting this. as i type in october, i can promise that the content will slow down. i’ve been decidedly less narcissistic about my nutrition and fitness activities.

ok. onto more exciting things. well. they were exciting in september. the 2025 bills season is underway!!!! we are all in, as usual. derek put his 3D printer to work making us cool bills flair. hazel and i put our baking skills to work making us delicious bills cookies. and the good people at publix put their fryers to work making us cheap and easy buffalo wings. and josh allen signed numerous sponsorships this offseason, so we even picked up some endorsed snickers ice cream bars. obviously.

i would like to take a moment to note. the bills started out 4-0 in september. it was absolutely fantastic. and since then, are 0-2, and we are feeling a little down about them. and i am realizing that this is a good reminder to keep my blog up to date in a more timely fashion. it’s hard to blog about september’s excitement in light of october’s, well, concern.
ok. what else? hazel tried out for flag football. we knew it was a long shot because she’s only in 6th grade, and she didn’t make it. but she was a trooper about seeing it through, perhaps aided by some post tryout treats.

the annababy has been keeping quite busy. field hockey was time consuming. but then there’s also newspaper and drama club and a play she has a part in and a very busy social calendar. she even went to see benson boone in raleigh with her best pal.

oh. and let’s not forget the volunteering. sometimes that looks like dressing up as a bear from a children’s book and working at a local bookstore’s author festival.

with ike working and going to school (and sleeping late), and anna in all manner of extracurricular activities, i spend a lot of one on one time with crazelnut these days. and i’m trying to be more proactive about arranging hangouts with her pals. she’s adjusted well to middle school, even if it’s dark when we leave in the morning and she only has a couple of people she knew previously in any of her classes. it’s wild how fast these people grow.

and for my final round of miscellaneous pics. some new hiking shoes. they are v. cool. apple crisp from our day on the farm. and our post apple/pumpkin lunch in pilot mountain. family time and stuff. (minus the adult-ish eldest sibling).

lastly, as always, ruby ruby-ing.

so there you have it. september of 2025. in the books. it’s fully fall, baby, let’s go!
