i follow a ridiculous number of blogs. cupcake blogs. home decor blogs. mom blogs. friend blogs. and many a craft blog. on one such blog, i was reading a post about how to turn some old grownup t-shirts and a onesie into a pieced jersey dress. i thought, “well, that would be a really great idea, except that anna’s current mode of transportation is crawling, and even a long shirt can cause a face plant, frustration and crying.” i put it in my bookmarks for future (when she’s walking, perhaps) ideas…
then, i noticed the cute babylegs. when i perform web searches and real life searches for leg warmers, i usually find pink and purple polkadots, or butterfly patterns, or the worst of all – brown and soft pink. bleh. these were dark green and bright sky blue striped. grown up colors. i wondered where she got them. and i was sad that everyone else seemed to know where to get cool things for their babies.
fast forward to the next day. i opened up my google reader, only to find that the very same blogger had written another little post/tutorial (here), detailing how these baby legs came into existence. turns out, she just buys adult knee high socks, chops off the feet. does a little hemming. and that’s it!
so, i went to target, where there’s a wide selection of adult knee highs for two whole dollars (and even some on clearance for $1.40!!). i scooped up a bunch and headed home to lop off the feet and get to sewing. 🙂 turns out, my ability to sew knit fabric isn’t great. they aren’t pretty, but i managed to get it done…
