pumpkins, cows, and nerds.

well, halloween was yesterday. here’s how that went down…

first we painted and carved some pumpkins. i had not meant to put this off until the last minute. i bought paint last week with every intention of painting with the boy during one of anna’s 30 minute naps. ambitious, i know. well, that never happened and about 2 hours before we headed out for trick or treating, we did a little decorating. we started off by painting. i was pretty lazy and just went with solids and initials. isaac painted a few strokes of color on his, before deciding he’d rather carve his pumpkin like his dad was doing. so, with derek’s help, isaac designed his own face (complete with ears) and used some extremely sharp tools to carve out said face. he did a good job.

we had several pals coming over to join us trick or treating in our tightly packed neighborhood. isaac was set to go as luigi (of super mario brothers video game fame) and anna was ready in her cow costume. at the very very last minute, isaac decided he didn’t want to be luigi, so i quickly thought of another costume i could pull together from existing clothing and household items. also, something that he would not think was a costume! i had picked up a nerd t-shirt from target the other day (complete with printed pocket protector, suspenders, and nerd glasses). i paired this with some too-short plaid pants rolled up a bit, white socks and brown dress shoes and a nerd was born. unfortunately, i don’t have any pictures of the nerd, so i’ll have to wait until one of the friends emails me some….

well, without further ado…
here’s some pics from the halloween picasa album…
