after the rock house hike and otherworld, we made many more stops en route to our next accomodations, making this one day (june 12 to be exact) quite long.
while still in columbus, we checked another state capitol building off our list. the kids are still such troopers about this.
then we made the first of what would be many fabric store stops, at sew to speak in columbus, where i scored a ton of ruby star, new and old, and some cool labels, and lots of christmas fabric. (spoiler alert: the labels and christmas fabric are still unused). it was one of the coolest shops i’ve been to and the employees (owners? not sure) were so nice. if you ever find yourself in columbus….
then. a quick stop at the krema nut company. which kept us stockpiled on nut themed humor for awhile. and some nuts and candies of course.
from there, we had a long stretch of driving and some much needed rest took place. we arrived in brighton, michigan, where we met my old college and western ny pal, matt. we enjoyed a lovely tex mex dinner with him, strolled around the delightful downtown, had some ice cream, chatted about old times, laughed about me being a responsible mom, and even remembered to take a commemorative photo. a good time.
from there, yes there’s more, we rolled into lansing michigan with enough time to hit one more capital. the bright blue sky and moon and lighting on the actual building made this one of the ones to remember.
we CRASHED in our hotel. it was cozy and there was free breakfast. always lovely.
and in the morning, there was no time to waste. cool adventures awaited. after a little drive, that is.
