november is my fave.

it might be because it’s my birthday month. or because of the fall vibes. cool nights. or because of thanksgiving and delicious foods and christmas around the corner. but i think we can all say that november is a good month.

anyways. we kicked off our november this year with our annual bonfire and chili and s’mores night. we invite a very eclectic group of our friends and the kids friends and their parents and it usually ends up being a really cool night. this year, sarah powers even showed up! it was a pretty awesome evening.

on the afternoon before the bonfire, hazel had been invited to her pal cole’s birthday party. i wasn’t able to take her, due to party prep, but cole’s mom was glad to escort her to hang at top golf with a full posse of boys. haha.

the weekend after the bonfire, we busted out some leftovers and invited a few friends to come enjoy another gathering. i could sit by a campfire every night. remember when we used to do that on the road? sigh. 🙁

still doing this thing. not sure why i feel the need to photograph and post about it, but here we are. lifting and salads. all the time. plus ruby. ha.

speaking of ruby, now is as good a time as any to post her little collage of pics from the month. she is really settling into lazy dog life. and i often find her upside down in the mornings. or all tucked in and covered up by one of the kids. or being embarrassingly spoiled and rotten.

before my big birthday camping trip, derek cooked up a pre-birthday feast meal. (rib roasts were on sale, so that helped). anyways. i was able to take leftovers ribeye camping, hardly roughing it out there.

then, when i returned from my camping trip, i had a lovely birthday dinner at the porch (an annual affair) with both of my heathers. so fun.

school for me dragged on and on. i did not love my classes for this mini-semester. the developmental psych was a lot of reading and had this stupid video game assignment each week. and discussion boards are the dumbest thing ever invented. but anatomy and physiology 2 was the real killer. the labs felt completely pointless and a waste of time. and we had so much material just blasted at us, it was hard to know what to focus on. everything is online which makes me crazy. have i mentioned that i’m just not a fan of how education works these days? (i’m old).

let’s see here. while i wasted away in a boring and pointless lab, i missed a class field trip to the zoo with hazel. thankfully, some other moms sent lots of pics and kept tabs on her for me.

i did skip my lab to attend her 5th grade thanksgiving party. i also signed up to bring a treat, which i obviously made so i would be ensured that i had something delicious for a splurge and not some chemically grocery store crap. (but i still brought my own healthy salad along with chick fil a for my girlie).

OF COURSE we decorate for christmas before november is over. gotta get the most of the holiday joy. i am so tired of people complaining about long christmas seasons. anyways. this kid is really the only one all that excited about it. i can usually enlist ike to do some of the things that require manly skills. batteries. tall stuff. carrying boxes. and anna is good for baking cookies for us to enjoy. but hazel is the best decorator helper at this phase of life.

of course giant buddy joined us. and josh allen will be our tree topper until he retires.

hazel worked hard, so she spent some quality time enjoying the fruits of her labors and the magic of a lit up tree from below.

a dumb thing happened at work in november. every year we participate in a “shop hop” in september and october and extend our hours until 6 pm. not my favorite. but this year, they added in some november and then we had a time change and then i was at work, watching the sunset and i did not like how that felt. at all. but in other work stories, i rocked my buddy the elf socks. and 100% dressed in full bills gear when i worked the monday after the bills beat the chiefs.

ok. so some random pics and such. the girls getting ready for church, i think? or maybe a fancy event. i can’t be too sure. hahah. and just me and anna doing some algebra 2 together. i hope my kids can someday appreciate that having a math mom was a luxury. (currently i think they find it annoying because they don’t have any excuses).

um. this kid embarked on a new and exciting adventure. basketball!! i am pretty excited to watch her. she’s naturally athletic, but doesn’t really know the rules, and is a little tentative. hoping she figures it out and balls out. 🙂

whew. that’s november.
