december (and 2024) wrap up.

december was incredibly busy. decembers and mays always are. here’s the haps between and around the birthdays and holiday events.

kicked things off with a literal $997 trip to costco. mostly for baking items for the impending cookie mayhem (and anna’s weekly cookie mayhem), but also grabbed several gifts and some other expensive items (meat!).

perhaps one of my favorite annual new traditions is heading up to liv for sweets bakery in king with my pal sara for their elf themed week. we grabbed a few confections and then went over to a local coffee shop to enjoy said confections and chat and catch up etcetera and so on.

of course i brought home a selection of brightly colored sugar laden treats for my fam.

then, in a surprising twist, they invited us back over later, for an outdoor viewing of elf, completing the very elf themed day. also, please take a moment admire the mr. hanky the christmas poo (converted snowman display) created by sara’s husband cliff.

a lot of basketball in december for hazelnut. it’s been a good experience for her. the age range for the division she’s in is a little wacky. i think they organize it according to the demographic of the signups and this year, hazel is in 5th-7th grade, which has a huge disparity in size, development, skills, etc. but she’s been learning a lot and seems to be having a lot of fun, so i am happy.

when i received an email from the local library about a harry potter event, of course i thought it was a great idea to add another obligation to our calendar. i wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was pretty cool. hazel’s pal cole and his mom joined us and the harry potter loving duo had a great time making potions and eating candies and doing crafts.

we had an outdoor movie reprise with the muncy fam, this time watching some random cult classic from the 90s and eating chili. and cliff has upped the outdoor movie experience complete with pre-movie commercials and marketing.

that pretty much wraps up the parts of my post about december that have any cohesion. the rest is literally just random crap, so let me take you through it all….

hazel and friends. cole’s mom (kate) crocheted a harry potter (gryffindor) hat for her birthday. and we’ve spent a lot of time with ella and her fam. they are a good little match.

speaking of ella’s fam. her mom is an avid thrifter, so we went to goodwill together one day. must have been a day they received a TON of, well, take a look for yourself. we had a good time cracking up about it. (there was more, but i figured two pics would suffice).

let’s see. i hung in there with gym and diet mostly in december. it’s not easy. i think i gained five or so pounds through it all. i don’t have a lot of gym/workout/salad pics, which i think is correlated. gave blood. had a lovely meal out with the middle kid.

received a fab bills card from my friend leah. so much better than those family photo cards, or worse, family update letter cards. haha. hazel and anna had a big sleepover party for new years with their friends. check out her matching comfy set and stanley. she’s so cool. and lastly, my new favorite bills/christmas apparel arrived just in time to wear for like eight straight days until christmas. a buddy the elf/josh allen mashup. it’s perfect.

oh. and then there’s this doofus dog. <3.
