it’s halfway through july as i type this. and we have been keeping pretty busy and active, so this all seems like a million years ago. but alas. i will do my best to recapture the moments. away we go…
firstly. a lovely hike with ruby to hanging rock state park. a favorite of ours. the flowers were doing their thing. the sun was shining. the views were pleasant. and ruby cooled off by never using the bridges.

next. come with me on a little trip to ronni’s pizza and wings, a beloved establishment near us, owned by some former buffalo folk. our favorite wings for sure, despite their insistence on using texas pete over franks. we opted for a giant supreme type pizza this time, and sort of regretted deviating from our normal cheese and pepperoni, but it was still delicious.

after consuming excessive pizza and wings, the very next day i stuffed my body into a bathing suit to visit and old friend at lake norman. we did a bit of kayaking. sunbathing. went out for a fantastic lunch. and then just sat quietly and enjoyed the lake ambience. it was a good day.

still doing that fitness and nutrition thing. you know. when i’m not eating pizza and wings. or. well. you’ll see.

had myself a little treat night with my pal sara-without-an-h. we went to a cool new spot in king, called the dalton, where i got “the bird” which was one of the best chicken sandwiches i’ve ever had. and then. since the damage was already done, we drove on over to mama zoe’s where we split a GINORMOUS pie sized apple cobbler with ice cream and caramel. no regrets. none.

this summer is chock full of camps for the girls. hazel went to two different basketball camps at local high schools, including one at reagan, where she will hopefully reign supreme on the court someday. she didn’t even seem to mind the hot non-airconditioned gym in the summer heat vibes. it brought me right back to some of the best memories of summers spent in stinky gyms in the 90s.

anna has determined that she will tryout for field hockey this fall, so she went to a camp and has been attending all of the optional team workouts this summer. her pal alexa is joining her in this new endeavor and i hope they both make the team.

and now. for some random happenings and updates. a playdate with an old friend, complete with weird wardrobe transitions and makeup. a colorful bounty of eggs that i can never resist photographing. the boy went for a 90s goatee during a facial hair transformation.

in very exciting (terrifying) news, this kid has a permit and will be learning her craft on the roads of forsyth county for the next 10 months or so. it’s been a little rocky so far, but i am still alive and my car is still in working condition, so we will call that a win.

lastly. ruby.
