well well well. looky what we have here. it is currently september 2nd, and i’m wrapping up august. it’s an early autumn miracle!!
somehow, between vacations and camps and practices and appointments, hazel and i were able to squeeze in a quick trip out to zebulon to visit our long lost pals who moved away at the end of last school year. we chatted and caught up while the kiddos frolicked. i reconnected with my buddy jackson the best boy. and we trekked out to a mexican restaurant with the worst service before hitting up walmart for a few school supplies.

i also actually did some sewing in august. not a lot. some. i spent one day stitching up a prototype pair of pants that i cut out months ago. i like them but i think i might go a size smaller when i cut into the good fabric. i also whipped up an adorable pink owl for my night garden quilt. i love her. the night garden continues to grow slowly. a project i both love and hate.

i FINALLY made a tote bag that my aforementioned long lost friend aske me to make, repurposing a out hand embroidered table runner that belonged to her mother in law. i finished it up just in time to take to her on our little visit. i even remembered to add a fun little tag, something i often forget.

i’ve made a cute friend on one of my little walks. he let me take a bunch of pics without tucking inside of his home. he must be used to the paparazzi.

we are huge fans of the cobblestone farmers market, but haven’t done a very good job of getting ourselves over there on saturday mornings. well, we finally made it. and it was hopping! we bought some farmer type goods, but mostly pastries and coffee and treats and salsas and bread and… books!? it was a lovely morning.

and then. as if we hadn’t already purchased and consumed enough sugar, we decided to stop for an amish cinnamon roll from louie and honey’s. if you’ve never had one, you are missing out.

squeezed in a quick well child visit and sports physical for the crazelnut. something about her sitting on the table across from me reminded me of this pic of her at her one year well child visit. it’s all just going so darn fast.

remember that grandfather mountain hike? where i got so stupidly muddy?
check out how well my hiking shoes washed up after a few rounds in the utility sink with a generous amount of oxyclean. ready for the next adventure. (also, this commentary should tell you how unexciting my life is that i take before and after pics of washing my shoes).

just a quick note about this kid. she’s a whole vibe these days. always carefully crafting her look and oftentimes giving it a signature name. i am not at liberty to discuss said names. the internet is forever, you know. but, she’s really embraced having her own style this year. it’s fun.

now. for some lounging. one of us is a lot better at really exploring the lounge space. can you figure out who?

and now. the moment i am SURE you’ve been waiting for. a million gym selfies and a jillion pics of my food. most notably, my thanksgiving breakfasts. there’s just something about them that makes me photo them everyday. the gym selfies? that’s just pure narcissism. (actually, what i told a friend recently was, i spent years hiding and trying not to be in pics. i finally feel decent about myself, so it’s fun to celebrate the hard work. so no. i don’t feel weird about it. thank you very much.)

also. you should know. i pared these little galleries down. so, just be thankful for that. 🙂

and there you have it. august blog in the books. blaugust, if you will.
september has a lot happening so let’s just see if i can keep rolling with this timely blogging or if i am posting about september come next february. there’s no in between.
