anna delores, thespian.

sooooo. here’s the thing. if you have known me for some time now, and can remember when the anna baby was an actual baby and then a toddler and then a child, you might recall that she was decidedly not one who basked in the spotlight. she was quiet and reserved, and preferred to not have attention drawn her way (or for you to actually even glance at her or think about glancing at her or accidentally be perceived to be glancing at her). preschool recital type events were pure torture…

but then also. she’s always been pretty musical, artistic, and creative, and while we weren’t allowed to let her know we were watching or listening, she could often be found in her room, singing or acting out scenes from movies.

well, over the last few years, she’s grown out of the fear of the spotlight, and anyone who knew her back then would be surprised to learn that she’s a full blown theater kid now. like, all in. 100% drama. it’s a wild twist i would have never anticipated.

she auditioned for the school play this fall and had a few non-speaking parts in the very small cast. she loved every minute of it. we came to the play on the second night to watch her thing. it’s a cool moment to see your teen do the thing they love.

the play wasn’t bad either. all of the kids did such a good job.

after the show, we had to take all of the pics with our new thespian.

the next day, for the final performance, one of the actors wasn’t feeling so hot. she tried to power through, but at the last minute, anna was called in to play the role of cochita, a somewhat comedic character. unfortunately though, we were not there for her first speaking part, so i had to rely on pics from other moms.

the grandlidboms were in attendance though, so at least some family got to be there for this moment. even if her mom is the one who drove her to and fro for all of those many million rehearsals that ran late. it’s fine. i’m fine.

she absolutely loves theater and is thriving as a theater and has made so many new friends. i’m excited to watch her as she grows and learns and hones her craft. she’s getting ready to audition for the spring musical as i type…..
