this year was different. for the past few years (and even dating back to some of the years before we went on the road), we have hosted easter, along with a pretty epic egg hunt. it’s obviously evolved over the last almost two decades. this year, the “kids” are 21, 19, 18, almost 16, and 12, and for the first time, we scrapped the egg hunt.
but. we absolutely refused to compromise on unhinged easter cookie decorating. well, at least the girls and i did.
they helped choose the shapes, but the baking was mostly up to me. a theme that i’m not super excited about as these kids get older. i saw a tweet saying something about when the kids are little, you do all of the memory stuff along side them, but when they are older, you are making the magic for them. it’s a thing they don’t tell you about.
anyways. we made some pretty great cookies this year. in a surprise plot twist, for the first time in 14 years, the sabres are good, so along with josh allen and the bills, there were plenty of sabres themed cookies this easter. along with some other gems.

as if that many cookies for like 12 people wasn’t enough, i made some GINORMOUS everything but the kitchen sink cookies. (my nutrition was not on lock).
obviously i also made a carrot cake from scratch. so good.
i did a terrible job of taking pics of the easter festivities. sorry. anyways. here’s a pic of the buffalo i picked up at olivers candies for ike’s easter “basket” while we were in ny. and him, displaying his basket goods. some of them. dereks parents are in the process of moving, and have unearthed some treasures as they pack and unpack. a personalized apron from caison’s toddler years, for example. and then. the party was over. and ruby and i chillaxed on the deck.
