i don’t know what possessed me to do this.
i saw the cute ice cube trays at ikea.
i had seen the idea on blogs.
we have approximately 517 used crayons in our house.
so, i decided to make heart crayons for isaac’s valentines for his preschool class. it took a little bit of trial and error to figure out the most efficient way to go about this. the hardest and most time consuming part was cleaning the tray between batches. wax does not care about dish soap. or 409. or scrubbing. or even bleach. i finally had to get scalding hot water at about a 1:1 ratio with dish soap, rubber gloves, a stiff scrub brush and a lot of elbow grease to get the tray even half way clean. next time i’m going with disposable plastic trays. if there’s a next time…

i know, i know. poor isaac is going to be the kid with the mom that gave out crayons instead of candy. not to worry, i picked up some fun dip for him to give out too. you’re welcome other moms. you’re welcome.
Yes, I still read your blog, I have just become impossible lazy about commenting… all that button pushing, and opening of new pages on the screen, a girl can only do so much.
However, I felt the need to tell you that
A) we used to make these when were little, in test tubes. We smashed them when we were done to get the new colorful crayon out.
B) this classroom gift officially makes you a martha-stewart mom. I know, you try and hide it, but its true. I will stop you if you ever start “its a good thing” about your own crafts though. (by stop I mean slap)
