MAY-hem (2025).

it’s that time of year. when all the anniversaries and birthdays and mothers days and end of school concerts and graduations and field days and class parties come together to create the most chaotic month of mayhem for our little crew. and then there’s the in between stuff. and that’s what i’ll be talking about here.

firstly. i’ll just get it out of the way. some gymfluencer pics. i’m addicted to the locker room mirror at the gym. haha. plus some healthy lunch food pics. and even though it’s not really fitness and nutrition related, a blood donation photo. i guess technically i’m forcing my red bone marrow to get to work producing new red blood cells, keeping things freshy fresh. so there’s that.

we decided to go to the greek festival this year. it’s been a long time since we last attended and things were so different. it has grown so much. we met up with some friends and proceeded to eat and eat and eat. and then took even more food home with us. (so much baklava). it was a lovely, and quite loud, and very expensive evening.

on one of the last (semi-free-for-all) days of school, hazel brought this little list home in her backpack. the list was equal parts adorable, funny, and weird. and also, “inexorably”??? nerd.

probably could have posted these next two pics with the “end of elementary” post, but i didn’t and now they will live forever here. dress shopping for graduation with hazel. why is she so big? and a farewell photo with my pal amanda, who moved away to faraway lands, leaving me to fend for myself next year. 🙂

hazel wasn’t the only lidkid to do some “graduating”.
quietly, with very little fanfare, the boy graduated high school. it was sort of weird, because he only took one class at the high school in the fall, and spent the entire year taking dual enrollment classes at the community college. he opted to not walk in the graduation ceremony, so it all felt a little surreal. and sort of sad that we didn’t get to properly celebrate. but, i can celebrate here. he’s had a wild ride, starting kindergarten in public school, homeschooled in first, back to public for second, off to a new school for third for a few months before homeschooling and then three years of roadschool. we homeschooled again when we got home, before he decided to head back to public school for ninth. there were touch and go moments, but we made it across the finish line. it’s flown by. hard to believe this little guy has completed his school journey.

back to the mundane….
i bought some furniture for the screened porch. and by some, i mean, one particular item. an egg chair. it’s cool. and everyone’s new favorite. but the bar is low, as the rest of the furniture is camp chairs and foldable tables.

some random glamour shots. hazel snuggled in my bed when derek was out of town. ike and his proud perler bead creation of saquon barkley’s backwards leap. and me and anna. 🙂

some friend time. a visit to mckays. and making ginormous cookies with cole.

and some friend time for me. a throwback evening with heather and jude. of course we went to the bills backers bar and i had wings.

and lastly. a bit of sewing news. i made a block for my night garden. a very slow moving project. and we hung a quilt i made over a year ago. haha.

a few months ago, hazel’s third grade teacher (beloved), asked if i would be willing to make her a t-shirt quilt out of some of her school t-shirt. of course i was happy to, even if i hate t-shirt quilts. she opted for a very simple design. and picked out the best backing of all time. i quilted it with a diagonal grid. she seemed to love it. and was willing to send me some pics because i forgot to take any.

and. lastly. ruby. solid. steady. best. girl.
