After many weeks of coming close, Anna has rolled over from her back to her belly, completing the 360 degree journey from belly to belly. She is still struggling with a pesky arm that originally was obstructing the final phase of the rollover and is now becoming trapped underneath her when she completes the rotation. […]
summer vacation friends
a few weeks ago, we headed to the park with some friends (cora and kate) whose parents (doyle and gretchen) both teach. their summer vacation was winding down, so we grabbed them while we could. isaac and cora are good pals. kate is still a little unsure about us lidboms. and anna doesn’t really care […]
official kitchenaid supervisor
isaac and i made some chocolate chip cookies yesterday (at his request). he’s a very good helper for all of the mixing. then, he abandons me, only to return when the cookies are warm out of the oven. here’s some pics of him at work, supervising the mixing phase:
education: day #1.
today was isaac’s first day of preschool. he wasn’t up for a cute stand-in-front-of-the-house-all-dressed-and-ready-to-go-on-the-first-day-of-school picture. instead, i snapped these, despite his best efforts to avoid the camera. he cried all the way there and grumbled all the way from the car to the door. then, he slipped into the classroom without even saying goodbye. when […]
blue ridge village, round 4.

“How was the day?”
Derek here… While our kids are usually decent during the day (aforementioned exceptions excluded), Anna’s lack of post-midnight sleeping takes its toll on Sarah. I often ask how the day was when I get home. This evening, I realized that there is a non-verbal indicator of how the elder lidkid behaved during the day… Yep…the […]
Preschool Tote
Isaac needs a tote bag for preschool next week. I was feeling craftastic. So, I hacked my way through this reversible tote bag. Isaac could care less. And I think it might be a bit big for him. Oh well.
Exersaucering
Isaac and I cleaned up the exersaucer for Anna’s first bit of exersaucering. She really liked it, despite the fact that Isaac was all over her, whacking the toys, aggressively shoving things in her face, holding her arms so she could whack toys and my personal favorite, shaking the entire exersaucer vigorously. Poor girl.
