western sky quilt

i really started off 2024 on a quilt making rampage. before i even finished the strawberry quilt, i was making plans for a western sky quilt. (pattern by plains and pines).

i found an array of shot cottons in the perfect palette for my vision at a local shop and it was game on.

this one was a little out of my comfort zone, but i was careful and meticulous and my points were aligning every so nicely. before i knew it, i had all of my diamonds and it was mostly how i had envisioned it. then i managed to miscut the background fabric several times and things were a little touch and go as i put all of the big pieces together. it was a little lumpy, but i was hopeful it would quilt out.

i quilted vertical lines about an inch apart. and then i went back and added more lines. and as for the binding, i had a lot of leftover strips of the shot cottons, so clearly a scrappy (and already paid for) binding was in order.

and. like all my other quilts. i had several photoshoots, with dozens of pictures each, and i am having a hard time choosing, so you get a plethora.

my plan for this quilt is to hang it above the mantle of the fireplace. someday. sigh.
