summer beach trip. more beachy days.

after a day off of basking in the hot summer north carolina sun, the kids were game for driving to the point of oak island and taking a little sunset walk.

we took lots of purple-y pics. ruby loved the more calm waters and the weird sand embankment.

we met a crusty crab. and looked for shells. the sunset was a little cloudy, but still a great evening.

the next morning, anna agreed to accompany me on a morning walk. (this was the unofficial start of my attempt to start walking more. more to come on that.)

anyways, for this trip, we went down to walk on the beach (versus in the neighborhoods like i had been doing).

we ended up walking all the way down to a pier, which necessitated a photoshoot. and then nearby we scored some iced coffees from a place called ruby’s (a place in which our ruby was not permitted entrance). then we strolled back along the beach with our iced coffees in hand, like basic white girls.

later in the day, the girls and i went back to the beach. we did some reading and some regular castle and some drip castle building. derek met up with us at some point i think, but i can’t be too sure.

when we were at the farmers market, we noticed a splash pad nearby, which seemed like a good way to cool off in the afternoon without getting all sandy again. also hazel REALLY wanted to go and i would never hear the end of it if we didn’t go.
