originally, after purchasing tickets to see vance joy in columbia, maryland, we planned to make a long weekend out of it and do a proper tour of DC. but, i was a little overwhelmed with my classes, so we kept it short and sweet, driving up on the day of the concert, seeing some sites along the way, spending the night, and hitting up a few spots on the way home.
on our way up, we attempted to stop in dc, with the hopes of checking out a few monuments and the mall and all that. but, we couldn’t find a parking spot, so settled for a drive by pic of the washington monument, before moving on to the white house for a quick photoshoot, stroll, and three extremely expensive slushies from a food truck.
that night, we attended the most wonderful vance joy concert and had the best time.
in the morning, we obliged isaac’s request to stop at the ravens stadium. we were disappointed to discover the ray lewis statue is removed when there’s no game. but, he was happy to log another stadium.
then we were off to a farmers market. it was unlike any we had ever been to. under an overpass. really cool. we bought a million things. i stuck to my healthy options. begrudgingly.
on the way home, we squeezed in detours to two more state capitol buildings. first, annapolis maryland, which was adorable, but also amidst a ton of construction so hard to figure out parking and getting there and such.
then. richmond, va. surprisingly, we have never been, despite it being one of the closest capitals to our homeland. we popped in and out, bringing our state capitol total to 35.
the ride home was utter misery. terrible traffic. took forever.
but. it was all totally worth it for a fantastic weekend.
