the very last ever vienna chorus concert for the hazelnut and it’s ok i’m ok.

even though hazel didnt start public school until third grade, she jumped right in with all of the activities and you would never even know she was a weird homeschooler.

this year, for their spring concert, i finally snagged front row seats and get an up close viewing of my favorite little crooner.

between me, derek, and the grandlidboms, i think we took 800 pics and they all sort of look the same. i do love to see some of the other facial expressions on the kids.

the wonderful, patient, enthusiastic mr. howe.

before one of the songs dedicated to the teachers, the kids had an opportunity to read a note to a favorite teacher. of course hazel’s and her pal ava’s were ridiculous. the rest of the kids were super sweet.

one of the parts hazel (and all of the fifth graders) look forward to the most is the little superlatives award ceremony. mr. howe gives out fun little awards to all of the fifth graders, which is a larger and larger group of kids every year, and i imagine a daunting undertaking.

well. i wasn’t sure what award hazel would get, because i’m not always sure what kind of kid she is in other environments. but then, when he said “the award for most sarcastic goes to….” i knew. and apparently so did several other parents. i mean. i’m not really surprised. and i’m quite proud.

after the concert, the fifth graders (the ones that didn’t run off and/or leave) took a group photo with mr. howe. adorable.

we were sure to get a pic with mr. howe. or many. with various assortments of children.

of course also pics of some of the very same children, showing off their awards.

obviously. i needed this pic. my proudest moment of parenting to date….

and!!! guess what!?!?! i actually posted a couple of snippets to youtube so i can put them on this blog! look at me go. the kids were so stoked to have “talked mr. howe into having a taylor swift song”….

and this maroon five song was super sweet.

anyways. i’m sort of bummed that hazel decided not to do chorus in middle school (!!!!????!!!!) next year. maybe she will change her mind. but, i’m trying to accept that this might be her last performance.
