It’s a sad day for Panther fans in the Carolinas. Lots of talk of “why did he kick it out of bounds?” and “they should have never gone for two”… Oh well, it was a great game and we had a good time. Had some folks over for chips and salsa and guacamole and dip […]

Survivor All-Stars
After the Superbowl, Survivor All-Stars premiered on CBS. I have so missed Rupert. But, not enough to make it through the entire episode! I fell asleep just before Tribal Counsel!!
Go Panthers!!
It’s Superbowl Sunday. The Carolina Panthers are playing the New England Patriots. Had I not moved here, I would cheer for the Patriots, hands down. But now, being a local, I have no choice but to pull for the hometown heroes!! We’re hosting a Superbowl Party to cheer on this year’s underdogs!!
Optional Teacher Work Day
Monday and Tuesday were full-fledged snow days. Today was and tomorrow will be an “optional teacher workday”. Which means, we can go in and work if we want, or we can use accrued vacation time. Since, I have NO accrued time, I’ll work. 🙂 Actually, it’s great. It gives me time to organize and get […]
SNOW DAY!!!
It snowed a few inches over the weekend. Just enough to send the region into a frenzy. School was cancelled (for me) and work was cancelled (for Derek). Word on the street is, there’s gonna be some sleet and freezing rain, so I think I might be off tomorrow, too. Before you start thinking that […]
Sunshine State
After school Friday, Derek and I made a spur of the moment decision to drive to St. Petersburg, Florida, to see my Dad’s side of the family. We made it there in 10 hours of drive time and spent the weekend and came back yesterday. (Hopefully, soon, I’ll get a biography entry ready for it.) […]
“F” word
Today a student said the “F” word to me. Well, he didn’t finish it, and believed that was reason enough not to be punished. He was wrong.
Another weekend, come and gone…
It’s another Sunday night. Getting set for my first full week of school with students. Last week I had two teacher work days before the students came back and then a snow day on Friday. It was great. Not much going on this weekend. We watched some football and cleaned up around the house. Pretty […]
Back to work
It’s the final hours of “vacation”. Derek goes back to work tomorrow and I start my new job at the Yadkin Success Academy tomorrow. I’m excited and nervous. And — very happy to have a job and something to do with my time. It’s not a typical teaching environment. Small classes, self-paced learning. But, I […]
Back to NC life
We are back. Truth is, we’ve been back. I was pretty sick this week (see blog entry: flu), and then we’ve been pretty busy trying to get back in order. NY was a lot of fun. Poor Jake was sick a lot of the time (and likely the reason I was sick). He started puking […]
