easter was early this year. so all of the festivities took place in march.
first up, i managed to snack the “sweet treat” check box for hazel’s spring fling class party. (those other moms are quick on the trigger, so it’s actually quite hard to get a spot, much less the coveted sweet treat spot).
naturally, i way overdid it (only after an excessive amount of research of course). i opted for sugar cookies, topped with little rice krispy treat nests, tucked into some buttercream grass and filled with candy coated chocolate eggs, which were not-so-surprisingly hard to find the week before easter.
according to hazel and her teacher, they were a huge hit. i’m such a pinterest mom.
i almost didn’t do it, because it’s almost always quite a disappointment, but at the last minute we dyed easter eggs. i didn’t get any kits, and just opted for food coloring. it’s safe to say this might be the last year. but the eggs were colorful at least.
for our final easter themed food related activity, we made some fun cut-out sugar cookies and decorated them with buttercream. we all have strangely fond memories of when we made cookies for our first easter in the house, during covid, when i definitely coped by purchasing an obscene amount of sprinkles.
we made some traditional and some not so traditional shapes. but, all bets were off when it came to the actual decorating of said shapes. and you should know by now, even though we were in the middle of the off season, the buffalo bills were represented.
every year we get a little more intense. a little more messy. a lot more quantity. it’s growing out of hand.
anyways. here’s some pics of the results. i don’t know who made what except that isaac was in charge of all of the boring gluten free circle cookies, and he worked wonders with them.
