presents for our visitors.

during our time living in the rv on the road, we met so many awesome people who became lifelong friends. when we were in palm desert, california, we ended up in the same campground with jenn and brandy jackson, who were only cyberspace instagram friends up until that moment. we immediately hit it off, and ended up meeting up several more times on the road, and staying in touch even after we settled.

they are still living their best lives on the road (and it’s no secret that i am jealous), and they have had a few close brushes with north carolina, but have never stayed close to us. until now.

they booked a little over a week at tanglewood nearby and we had a week chock full of fun times. as soon as they were settled in, anna and ruby and i drove straight over to hang out and walk around a bit and make epic plans.

and. i brought gifts.
a very long time ago, i made the lone starburst block out of some rainbow-y scraps from a quilt. i stuck it to my design wall, where it has stayed for like four years. last fall, i taught a foundation paper piecing class at the shop i work at, and our second project was the lone starburst block. so then i had two unused quilt blocks, needed the perfect project.
turns out, a pair of rainbow-y pouches were the perfect gift for my two friends, who happen to be married. i backed them both in some also very rainbow-y prints and accessorized them with the most perfect zipper pulls. jenn and brandy were ecstatic and then proceeded to argue about whose was whose.

later in the week, they visited me at work and picked out some really cute dinosaur fabric for me to make them matching pillowcases. i also snagged some to make a birthday gift for anna, my weird dinosaur loving middle kid.

i think they loved them. every now and then, jenn sends me a pic of their bed, so i can see the pillowcases in their new homes.
