Let it Ice

Posted on December 15, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

We had our first school cancellation today. There’s about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch of ice on everything outside. It’s nice. The ice is Lucy’s worst enemy. She runs out onto the deck to go in the backyard and slides all over the place. This makes her quite apprehensive about trekking the staircase. Many […]

Good and Busy

Posted on December 3, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

This past week was CRAZY! We had three games: Tuesday we played Alexander Central, on the road, and defeated them handily. I think we shot about 80 times. On, Wednesday we played East Forsysth at home and beat them in a close one (31-29). It should not have been close. We played terribly. Last night […]

And then there were 2

Posted on November 27, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

I have two days of class left. Four whole classes. On Wednesday, I will unofficially be a fully licensed NC teacher. It feels great – except that in one class, our teacher has backloaded the assignments, so I’ve spent a good proportion of my Thanksgiving holiday doing school work. Friday, I wrote 3 papers and […]

SASI

Posted on November 18, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

I am taking some FHS students to Efland, NC for a retreat this weekend. They are the same students that went to camp with me this summer at the “Student Athlete Summer Institute”, or SASI as we like to call it. It’s a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to seeing other coaches and […]

That’s right. Five more class days. 10 classes in all. It’s getting close!! Basketball is in full swing. We have our first game Wednesday. Scrimmages looked good. We’re small. No one is taller than about 5′ 9″. And we don’t really have any TRUE post players. Well, maybe one, I guess. We had a long […]

Crazy November

Posted on November 3, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

Basketball started on Monday. Last year, it was all I could do to keep up with basketball and school. Now, I have to contend with those AND my last month of classes at WSSU. It’s going to get crazy busy for about a month. Then, my classes will be over. And I’ll be a REAL […]

Sinking…….

Posted on October 24, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

So, I am pretty much overwhelmed with work. It just keeps piling on. And with basketball on the horizon, it’s not looking like it will slow down anytime soon. I spent all weekend grading things. Three tests from Friday. Four seperate sets of homework. Good times. We also finally started meeting with the youth in […]

Fences and Dogs

Posted on October 16, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

We’ve been very busy this weekend, installing a new fence in our backyard. I think we are saving about $1000 by doing it ourselves, but it’s been quite a task. I think it will be finished by tomorrow night. Finally… no more walking the dog(s) on leashes in our own backyard. Which brings me to […]

If Thoughts Could Kill…

Posted on October 13, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

Last night, in my Algebraic Structures class, everything was going well. We had 5 minutes remaining. Our Professor of Mathematics with a PHD behind her name had remained uncharacteristically positive for the first 70 minutes. We were feeling pretty good about the material. It looked like we were heading for an uneventful class. Then, she […]
