Welcome to the Neighborhood

Posted on July 8, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

So, a storm rolled through yesterday. I was pleasantly napping on the couch at the time. Derek came in and told me that there were tornado warnings. Soon after, the power went out. After the storm seemed to have passed, we looked out our front window to see quite a scenery change. A Bradford Pear […]

Yard Work

Posted on July 6, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

Today I mowed our lawn for the first time. It didn’t take long. Seemed to be about 45 minutes to an hour, judging from the number of songs that played on my cd player. It’s not a bad lawn, as far as mowing goes. We are pretty settled in. All the essentials are unpacked. The […]

First Fourth

Posted on July 4, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

Tonight we went to Lewisville Square, to celebrate our first Fourth of July in our new neighborhood. It was packed out. We started passing parked cars about 1/8 of a mile down the road. (We walked). We didn’t really go into “the square”, opting instead for a curbside location just across the street. The lights […]

It’s Up To You, NY

Posted on June 30, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

We’re back from NY. While we were there, we went to Genesee Country Village, Darien Lake, the Pok-a-Dot (of course), Tully’s, my Mom’s cottage, and I think that’s it, for Western NY attractions. Darien Lake was hot. The whole trip was hot. It topped out around 95. That’s not terrible, except in NY, air conditioning […]

Nah nah nah nah

Today I take my last final. Then, other than completely the independent study for that extra credit I’m so very pleased about — I’m done!! In other news, we leave for New York immediately after my class today. Dear, sweet Julie is graduating from Batavia High School. Her slapping days are over! Then we move! […]

Flippin’ Busy

Posted on June 22, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

I’ve been so busy this week and it’s finally winding down. Here’s some of the highlights: a 30 page resource file on exceptional children 3 lesson plans with modifications for exceptional children (and my partner dropped the class – i’m on my own) a reflective essay on collaborating on above lesson plans 3 lesson plans […]

Summer Camp Memories

Posted on June 19, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

Got back from camp on Thursday. I know, I know, it’s Sunday… I’ve been busy. We had a ton of fun! The kids were super and it was better than I could have ever expected. We did about fifty thousand skits. I even got to be a cheerleader. Twice! Good times, I tell ya! I […]

Hectic

Posted on June 10, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

It’s a very hectic time right now. I’m taking two classes, one at Salem College and one at Winston-Salem State. They are both rather intense. In fact, I have a midterm this morning for the WSSU class, and it’s only the third class (and third to last class!). Tomorrow I take the Praxis 2. In […]

Movin’ On Up

Posted on June 4, 2005February 24, 2017by sarah

Derek and I bought a house today. We went looking last weekend and we saw this one and it was perfect. We both loved it. We went back and looked last night and decided to make an offer. A few minutes ago and a couple of counter offers later, it was ours!! We’re pretty excited. […]
