There’s no way I could wait until Halloween to unveil annas costume. I picked it up this morning at a consignment sale for $3!
soccer debut

it’s the moment i’ve waited for all my life. well, since my sports “career” ended. in 1999. ouch. isaac had his first soccer practice last night. it’s not even really practice. and they don’t actually play games. it’s really just a bunch of soccer fun with secret skill development worked in. he had a great […]
soul blossom quilt

Awhile back, I bought a ginormous (read: expensive) fat quarter pack of Amy butler’s soul blossom fabrics, with the hopes of making a king quilt for our bed. I unpacked them and began to have a bit of buyer’s remorse as there was a bit more brown than I accounted for. I hopped online for […]
changes.

great wolf lodge getaway

on wednesday night, derek surprised me and the lid kids with a getaway to great wolf lodge in concord (charlotte). i was quite nervous at first, since isaac barely likes the pool. or, hates the pool. same thing. and anna is still quite small for water slides and the like. but, we had some backup […]

we attended a little farewell party for our good friends mike and carlye who are moving to Kansas city in a few days or weeks or some such short time frame. Rather than make my typical box cake with buttercream and a stupid fondant decoration, I decided to offer more grownup options… Chocolate chip cookie […]
first day of school

Yesterday was isaacs first day back to school. It was only for 1/2 an hour to get acclimated and learn some rules and tour the room, but we still took pictures and put on the backpack and pretended it was fer realz. Tomorrow he goes for a full 5 hours!!!
when jake was here.

after our trip to ny, as i previously mentioned, jake paine made his way back to the nc with us. jake was glad to join in on our summer to do list… the making of milkshakes… isaac wasn’t sold, but played along. they both played a lot of mariokart. a lot. jake handed down his […]
