when we found ourselves with an extra weekend before hazel arrived, we tried to do some fun things with the kids… like christmas shaped pancakes with some sprinkles… check out anna’s sweet pigtails… the wink of approval… after the appointment where we scheduled the induction of a super late hazel, i returned home to find […]
baking
cookie mayhem. 2013 edition.
ok. so, knowing hazel was making an early december arrival, i knew i wouldn’t be making a bunch of christmas cookies, as i have in years past. but, i definitely wanted to make cut out cookies with the kids, because that’s super fun, and i didn’t want hazel to steal all of the christmas thunder… […]
this is just how i blog now.
i know when i’ve been defeated. i can admit it. posting once every week or so, and just throwing up a bunch of captioned pics seems to be the way things are going now. and i’m ok with it. this blog post will be no different. it goes back about two and a half weeks […]
christmas cookie elves.
last weekend, i gathered up mountains of flour and butter and sugar and chocolate and sprinkles and went to work baking cookies with (and mostly without) the lid kid elves. i started out making cutout sugar cookie dough. anna was quite helpful (she just ate sugar, mostly). isaac was not interested. they proved to be […]
calvin cougar club cupcakes
Last Wednesday, I was the “guest speaker” at Ike’s school for their calvin cougar club (on Wednesday, they stay an hour longer and have guest speakers, demos, etcetera). I talked about making and decorating cupcakes. I also provided cupcakes, frosting and sprinkles for them to decorate their own cupcake. And eat it. 54 preschoolers. 🙂 […]

delicious delicious birds nests
for some reason, i decided it would be a really great idea to make coconut/white chocolate bird’s nests with isaac for our little easter party. he did a great job helping…. i’m too lazy to narrate…
cupcake swirl apprentice
i had a few leftover cupcakes from allison’s shower, so i thought ike would like to decorate them. i showed him how to make a big delicious swirl and handed over the piping bag. he gave it a shot, but got pretty frustrated and gave up. such little hands… i convinced him to hold it […]
rainbow cupcakes
yesterday, while i was making the pink and purple shower cupcakes, isaac was begging and begging to help. i convinced him that we could try to make some sweet rainbow cupcakes later. and then later we did… helping mix batter. the colored batter and paper cups, ready to go: purple, blue and electric green… all […]
