Another Picture-less update…. We have parent conferences today. Fun times, fun times. I hope I don’t have any angry parents. I can always fall back on the “I’m a new teacher” line of reasoning. If that fails, I’ll just hide, I guess. 🙂 In related news… I somehow managed to get “Staff Member of the […]

Just Another Manic Monday
Just checking in… Not much to report here. School is as usual. The kids come. They sit. They bore. They talk. They leave. I start the process over again. It’s magical. Lucy is starting to settle in. At least we think that’s what’s happening. She’s a lot more (very a lot more) playful. The house […]
Golden Eye
It’s been a rough couple of days with Lucy. We were quite worried at first, because there didn’t seem to be a food in the world that could hold her attention for more than 3 seconds. You can’t really reward a dog if they don’t care. Kind of like kids without anything you can “tap […]
Go Bush Go!
Another week down. That’s 4, total. We had a pep rally Friday afternoon. It was a pretty good one. Last week, it seemed disorganized and the students weren’t really involved. This week, they hyped it up all week, and the place was filled with Falcon Spirit. The football team played Starmount last night (hence, all […]
Lucy is home!
We got our new dog yesterday afternoon. We had been through dozens of names, but settled on one of our first choices, “Lucy”. She was really tired yesterday, and slept most of the night (she had surgery). Today she’s been a lot more lively, and I’m sure it will only get better, as she gets […]
Goldie
This is a picture of the dog that Derek and I are attempting to adopt from the Forsyth Animal Shelter. She is the cutest puppy (or older) ever. Her name (now) is Goldie, but she didn’t respond to it, so I think we may go for something else. I’m open to suggestions…. Let ’em fly.
Falcons vs. Elks
Yesterday, we had the school’s first pep rally of the ’04-’05 school year. It seemed a little disorganized, but maybe it’s just that I’m a teacher and the last one I attended was my senior year of high school. Then, Derek and I went out to the Forbush Falcons/Elkin Bucking Elks football game. It was […]
S. Lidbom
I got my name tag yesterday. Now I’m “official”. Or, actually, now I just won’t get confused students looking for someone in the trailer next door. Things are alright. I actually got TWO WHOLE DAYS ahead in my lesson plans, giving me a lot of peace of mind, tonight. What am I going to do […]
Zzzzzzzz Zzzzz zzz
I’m tired. Teaching in a regular classroom is exhausting. It seems like the next ten months of my life looks something like this: 1. Awaken. 2. Desperately long for another hour of sleep. 3. Shower, eat and go, all in a half-asleep stupor. 4. Make the 20 minute trek to work, coming to grips with […]
Trailer Park
This picture/journal entry serves two purposes: 1. To update my faithful following (hi mom!) that I have started school at Forbush High School in lovely Yadkin County. Teacher reported back yesterday and the students will come in full force next Monday. I have three more workdays and lots of non-work time to get prepared. And… […]
